Not just kind of the same thing - they ARE the same thing.  Instant Pot is a brand of pressure cooker, like Kleenex is a brand of tissue.

"Aren't instant pots and pressure cookers kind of the same thing?" Patriot3, pressure cooker is the generic term and an Instant Pot is just one brand of electric pressure cooker. There are also stovetop pressure cookers that are available though I'd purchase an Instant Pot if I had no pressure cooker and wanted one.
