Re: You can make biscuits without White Lily Flour. . .

@avid shopper   Neither myself nor my husband grew up eating biscuits.

Our families are not southern.  My husband is a first generation American and I am a second generation American on my father's side.  We grew up eating hearty, crusty whole grain European breads.

There was never even cloud white fluffy bread in our homes and we very seldom even bought any sliced bread; maybe sliced rye on occasion.

Our breads were mostly homemade or bought from a neighborhood bakery. We had more than a few European bakeries in our area.  My city was full of immigrants.

I have always hated biscuits.  They were the first thing I had to make in home economics class in school and gagged on them.  My husband hates them more than I do.

We don't serve them in our home, so our children never grew up with them.

I was diagnosed with Celiac Disease 41 years ago, so I couldn't eat them now if I wanted to.

There's my story.  Not everyone likes biscuits and many people don't eat them because they are not good for you nutritionally.  If you like them, you can eat my share.

I haven't made biscuits in a long time.  Too much work for just he two of us and we're on different breakfast schedules anyway.  Plus, flour ends up everywhere when I do, LOL.  But, when I did, I used White Lily.  I also use White Lily White Cornmeal baking mix for my cornbread.  I prefer white cornmeal over yellow.

@Icegoddess   I have to have white cornmeal for cornbread and such. I find it's moist with more flavor.  May imagine it, but I sure notice it

@shoekitty WE agree!  We haven't bought yellow in years except for Mexican cornbread.  Somehow it just goes with that!

@avid shopper After further reading above maybe it isn't just about the biscuit.  I'm not a food hater and will eat about anything, so I don't understand it either but to each their own.  And we get excited at our house about trying new things and incorporating new foods.  Some are very traditional about what they will and won't eat.

My husbands siblings will not try anything beyond what they ate growing up, so people are just different about how they think about food.  Which makes the world go around.
