I wash everything in dish detergent including my 100 year old vintage cast iron. Modern dish detergent doesn't hurt cast iron seasoning. We aren't use lye soap now days.

Same here..........I set the cast iron on a "warm" burner to dry it, and it never rusts.

I was thinking about this subject a couple of days ago while wiping out a pan.  Just doesn't feel clean enough to sit and cook in again.  I wash all mine.

I just cringe every time they use a cloth towel to wipe out the sauces, grease, etc.  Like are these towels thrown away or does someone have to wash them??

I don't own uncoated cast iron, so everything gets done in hot, soapy water.

Well if you take a paper towel and wipe it clean, you don't have grease or food in you dish water.   Or waste water rinsing down the sink.   I generally use a spatula and then a paper towel.

I think wiping them clean is just a product demo to show they are nonstick.  I think they would assume people have sense enough when to wash a cooking vessel with soap and water or not.

I wipe my skillets clean all the time, and put them away; both nonstick, and cast iron.
