When I was at Total Wines last week, by checkout, there was a prefilled and sealed glass of wine. It looked like one serving (8-10 ounces) and the glass was stemless. I took a pic and sent it to my wine-o friends.

One serving of wine is technically five ounces.

I don't care for those stemless glasses. You need stems for your chilled whites, so your hand doesn't warm up the wine.

I didn't mean a nutritional serving. That's why I put the ounces in parenthesis.

If your wine is in a wine glass so long as to get warmed up by your hand, it won't matter whether the glass has a stem or not since the air will warm it.

My body temp (98.6) is generally a lot warmer than the air.

The first one seems to go pretty fast.

As for holding it, I guess I'm thinking about cocktail parties and BBQs, where you are holding it as you mingle.

I'm with you on the whites, and these types, sunshine. Although my preference order is different. Rieslings are my favorite - Late Harvest or regular. And moscato - well, that's nature's liquid candy! I keep trying chards, but find so many of them are too dry, sour tasting, or upset my stomach. Last weekend we were visiting relatives at an Embassy Suites, and the chardonnay they had in the lounge was really good. I meant to ask them before we left what brand it was, but forgot. Today I will call and see if they'll tell me. Their riesling was nice, too. Still sweet and fruity, but not as much as some can be.

I really like Washington Hills LR Riesling but it's been hard to get around here lately, so I make due with a variety of brands.

I've recently discovered Apothic wines, and love their white! It's a blend of the very wines we like most!

We're getting quite a number of wineries here in MN, which surprised me. Not too long ago I went to one nearby for an afternoon of tasting, and was surprised at how nice some of them were. The grapes have been specially developed for our colder climate, and it does make them a little sweeter (but also a little higher alcohol content, they said).

My sister lives in the bay area of CA, and she and her husband have become quite the connoisseurs (but not snobs!). I'm so envious of the selections they have out there! I couldn't resist giving my sister a set of these coasters for her last birthday.

you may want to try this riesling.....it is excellent! i especially like this during the holidays.
