That is what BTW regular French people do and they never swirl their wine pretending they know something special. My favorite is either red or white Bordeaux. Fav year 2009. Love rose from Provence, cremants from Loire valley, Chinon red Cabernet Franc. But for brunch or breakfast I love Italian Proseco. I am not a snob,if $5 French wine taste good to me I will buy it. Most other countries probably put more chemicals into their wines because I always react to it. I had wonderful Rose Castellan 2013 from Nimes , Provence today ! Available in my local Wegmans.

I love, love the idea of a breakfast wine!

I love wine! I live in Northern Virginia and my DH and I go out to the vineyards on a regular basis, it's our hobby. There are many wonderful vineyards in Northern Virginia and I want to visit them all but my dream of course is to go to Nappa Valley out in California. We may plan a trip next year. My DH prefers whites and and like all wines! We usually have a glass or two of wine with dinner every night.

Hi Hayfield! I'm right here in MD and have never been to the VA wineries. We did go to the one in Williamsburg, but there was a long wait for the tour and tasting.

Proseco is a sparkling wine, so it's like having a champagne brunch.

Wine for breakfast requires a nap later. {#emotions_dlg.sad}

The best wine was the one my nonno made in his basement..from the grapes in his backyard. Smiley Wink

We are Italian and we don't get all prissy about wine. We like what we like.

Since I live in the PNW now, I am partial to NW wines.

i am more of a white wine drinker.....love chardonnays, moscatos, rieslings in particular.

my two go-tos are kendall jackson vintners reserve AND sonoma cutrer russian river chardonnays.

I'm with you on the whites, and these types, sunshine. Although my preference order is different. Rieslings are my favorite - Late Harvest or regular. And moscato - well, that's nature's liquid candy! I keep trying chards, but find so many of them are too dry, sour tasting, or upset my stomach. Last weekend we were visiting relatives at an Embassy Suites, and the chardonnay they had in the lounge was really good. I meant to ask them before we left what brand it was, but forgot. Today I will call and see if they'll tell me. Their riesling was nice, too. Still sweet and fruity, but not as much as some can be.

I really like Washington Hills LR Riesling but it's been hard to get around here lately, so I make due with a variety of brands.

I've recently discovered Apothic wines, and love their white! It's a blend of the very wines we like most!

From their website:

"Our latest release brings tropical aromas and flavors together with hints of spice, creating an enchanting white blend.

Apothic White is an approachable blend that combines Chardonnay, Riesling and Moscato to create a luscious, vibrant wine in the bold style of Apothic. Intense flavors of peach, pineapple, honey and vanilla spice make this smooth white blend unforgettable."

We're getting quite a number of wineries here in MN, which surprised me. Not too long ago I went to one nearby for an afternoon of tasting, and was surprised at how nice some of them were. The grapes have been specially developed for our colder climate, and it does make them a little sweeter (but also a little higher alcohol content, they said).

My sister lives in the bay area of CA, and she and her husband have become quite the connoisseurs (but not snobs!). I'm so envious of the selections they have out there! I couldn't resist giving my sister a set of these coasters for her last birthday.

I went tasting outside of Seattle a few years ago. I was pleasantly surprised at how good, and I mean really good, the wines were!

No apologies, Fifi! It's my taste, not yours!

When I lived in LA, my work took my to Santa Maria frequently. The Plant Manager's wife worked at a local winery. She took me for a private tour and I tasted some unbelievable wines.

I can only imagine what a private tour at a Napa winery would be.

On 7/2/2014 ambermoon said: Nikaletti & HonnyBrown, just thought I would mention a battery operated wine cork puller. We have a Waring Pro that we've had for 5 plus years and it's still working great. No hand motion is required as the unit, on the touch of a button, lowers the corkscrew into the cork and pulls it from the bottle. Couldn't be easier. We got our's at Costco and I see it's available on Amazon. There are also Oster ones that are cheaper with good reviews. We don't use ours for weeks but it's in the charger ready to be used.

I bought the Rabbit opener @ Costco for under $20, holds the charge for long time, I haven't seen them there recently though. Not sure if the s--w is replaceable as it is on the manual rabbit one.

looks as though mine is an older model, they are avail at BBBeyond too,
