I always spill some too.  I do put mine in a L n L--not the entire bag, but enough for me to "work from" for a while since I don't bake every day.  L n L keeps it fresh.  The rest and other flour I have, I keep in the freezer to keep it bug free, etc.

I put my bag of flour in a zip lock freezer bag and then open it with scissors. After I use what I need I zip the bag and store it that way in my pantry....

There is always flour or sugar caught in the flaps on the bags. At least I can get sugar in one pound boxes, but I always have flour on the counter when I open a bag.

I dump everything into a 1/2 gallon canning jar and vacuum them, so my mess is only once.   I rarely even think about it.
