At this point, it's mostly just to eat. But I do still do holiday meals for the two of us and get satisfaction from creating wonderful food.

I used to cook for others a lot and truly loved doing it. It was always a wonderful experience.

One of my favorite stories, which some people have probably read so I apologize for the repetition, is from when I lived in Europe. I would find out what a bunch of the guys on base (whoever wanted to come-it was a smallish base) liked best. Then I'd cook a huge feast of all those things. We would clear out the furniture in our huge apartment living room and make a big, long, table situation with chairs for everybody.

I would just cook and cook and cook. I LOVED it and the guys loved having great homemade food that they were used to, but missed while they were so far from their homes. It was probably one of the most satisfying cooking experiences for me because I knew that everybody truly appreciated it and it made them happy.

I cook nearly every day.

Can't stand the taste of most take out any more and I never buy frozen prepared packaged dinners. I have the confidence of knowing what's in the dinner I'm eating. Take out or frozen prepared meals, well, not so much.

Baking is therapy for me. Kneading bread, mixing biscuits or baking cookies. Pure therapy. My grandmother taught me to bake when I was a kid. Rekindles some great feelings.

I cook because I prefer to eat meals made with my favorite fresh, seasonal ingredients and because it's easier on my budget when I cook those meals myself from scratch than when I eat them in a restaurant.

I love to cook and also cook because I need to eat and don't like to eat out alone. I enjoy planning my meals and preparing them. I would cook more if I didn't have dietary restrictions.

Thanks for taking the time to post a reminder that those of us who are able to do the things that feed our spirits should be ever grateful.

Just the other day I was grumbling my way through cleaning three bathrooms. I stopped to give thanks that I am physically capable of doing it.

I cook because I like to eat good food, and I like to serve good food to my family and friends. I also enjoy the creative outlet, and to be honest, I enjoy getting compliments on my creations.

I don't mind the cleanup, but if somebody volunteers to do it for me, I willingly let them.
