I am especially fond of spaghetti meat sauce and a salad!

@ECBG - I went to a restaurant that I had never been to before, on Sunday, and there, on the menu was sirloin tip stew over noodles.  I knew that I had to order it on such a cold day. That stew was so wonderful with its intense, spicy flavors and celery, carrots and lots of tomato.  I haven't had stew for easily two decades, and I discovered that I sure do miss it.  I guess it is time to break out that old Crock Pot of mine and have some fun!

I know what you mean.... winter and cold weather is all about comfy, slow cooked delish in dish!

I make a big pot of vegetable soup every week.  I start with dried beans soaked and boiled in aromatics, my own homemade stock, tons of veggies and herbs... It's like a pot of love. LOL!  Then I make barley, rice or pasta to put with it.

Winter is my "comfort food" time. I love chili. (regular chili, white bean chicken chili, turkey chili, mexican/taco chili) and I love soup/grilled sandwich combos. Always with a salad. 

@ECBG  I was never crazy about pasta/red sauce, but recently I have been liking it. I made mozarella stuffed meatballs last night and served with a Garlic/Basil tomato sauce.

Around here we talk about "gumbo weather" when the temperatures cool down.

I love gumbo but it's the meal which caused me to have a gall bladder attack that was so severe, I had to go to ER and then into surgery. Had zero idea I had any gall bladder issue and now I can't even think of cooking or eating gumbo. No reason I couldn't eat gumbo now, just the association of the worst pain I have ever felt.

I don't really cook according to the weather unless we're grilling outdoors, but since we got our ninja gril we haven't even taken the cover off the Weber.  I recently made some chicken vegetable soup that really hit the spot. I also tried a new recipe for a small pot roast that was very good.  A couple of weeks ago, I made keto lasagna and we had leftovers for days, but we didn't mind a bit.
