What’s different about lock n lock?

I have never used lock n lock as I’ve always used ones available in Target. I remember Tupperware when I was younger but I just wanted to understand what made lock n lock so special.

What's different about Lock and Lock?!?!?

So GLAD you asked!!!!

It's airtight, watertight, bugproof, safe for microwave, freezer, fridge, it curls your hair, improves your investment decisions, causes rainbows and sunshine every hour of every day, you can store EVERYTHING in it ( even your boyfriend or your husband's girlfriend), it's holiday decorated, it has many many MANY little locks you can operate with one hand, it comes in a million colors ( but never will you find the same color you "collect" twice because they keep changing the colors...) they stack, nest, breed in the cupboards at night, and can be left on your neighbor's doorstep with some homemade  takeout meal ( that they'll  immediately throw out cause they've seen those six cats up on the counter and the dog licking them "clean")....

They solve world crisises, cure ingrown toenails and are all around the most useful thing you'll EVER purchase..

They come in red, blue, farmhouse green, clear, mahogany, purple, ivory, pink mist, mustard, and a NEW color they brought out of the vault....burgundy with sparkles and embossed flowers on the top!!

Why....they do it ALL!!!

TSV coming up on Sunday Sept 3...mark your calendar!!!

A big set...I predict perhaps with 1/32 cup...1/8cup... 1/16 cup...1/2 cup, 1 cup, 2 cup, 3 cup, 6 cup, 1 quart, 2 quart, and 5 quart....some wiht handles, some not.!!

You can have your family name engraved on the tops !

And they nest!!!

See you there!!!

Red will sell out first on David's show....foodies and all that!!!!

I like it for all the different sizes, but its very strong. and stores well. bought it for years, still buying it. theres a size for everything except home made bread, but I'm still looking. Also I'm a QVC junky, don't even look anywhere else.

When I see certain product names that I've watched 14090 times, the spiel reels off in  my head....but here's my opinion on them...

They are good for storage and if you care for them will last. I haven't had TOO much trouble with them ( broken tabs seem to come up a lot) but that has happened with the later generation ones...

Also..the small ones are too small for me, I don't use them ,so for me, I no longer order the big sets which are usually the best price, because a lot don't get used.

The handles on the lids? take them or leave them. But I don't carry stuff to and fro in them either...

I have a large garbage bag of the sizes and shapes I don't use, so don't need any more. I am putting them in the donate box at the Goodwill...a family could use them...many are still in thier plastic wrappers!!!

My uses as a single person is mostly dry cat food, bird seed, and sometimes instant coffee ( I pour it out of the large manufacturer's jar and keep it airtight til I use it!)

The truth is...I still default to Saran-type wrap!!!!  I cook for two days when I cook and it works for me.

Re: What’s different about lock n lock?

I've got some L&L and like it, but only buy the glass ones now.  I also have some Anchor Hocking of the same type and like it too.  It also has a vent in the lid that the L&L version I have doesn't.

However, L&L glass is bore silica glass which can take more extreme temps than can the other glass usually used in these types of products.  Pyrex used to use bore silica glass, but no longer, so when they say it's the same as your grandma's Pyrex, I guess it depends on how old your grandma is.  I have since found that OXO glass storage containers also use bore sllica glass.

I still have tupperware pieces too so I use all of them.  My parents used to save Cool Whip containers which come in handy when you want ot send food home with someone so you don't lose your containers, so I guess my penchant for saving containers is genetic.

Re: What’s different about lock n lock?

I've eliminated 99% of L-n-L from my kitchen.  I've converted to glass food storage. I only keep a couple of smaller rectangle L-n-L containers to hold wrapped blocks of butter and cream cheese that have been partially used.

I never cared for LocknLock. I have such a hard time getting the lids off.

@Icegoddess

For over night in the fridge ( for me, single who cooks in batches) a sour cream container, a large yogurt container, a container ham came in (Hillshire Farms) works just fine...

I gave up on storing stuff in the freezer cause I like fresh meat, and no mystery meat!!  ( stuffed back in the freezer so far you don't find it for five years!!!!)  EVen Lock and Lock cant help with that!!!

I confess I fell for a gimmick!  But most stuff today IS gimmicks, so alas, we find out too late.

That's why our Mom's could make a whole Thanksgiving meal, from scratch, with a paring knife, a potato peeler, a carving knife and a box grater!!! And a few Pyrex pie plates and one measuring cup!!!

And a dinged up lovingly used aluminum roasting pan with the jiggly handles...and like my Mom had...ONE Farberware frying pan with a bakelite knobbed lid that she used for fifty years!!!!
