Re: What's cooking this January?

Wow it seems grilled cheese and soup was very popluar last night!

The first section of spring semester starts this week.  DH is teaching 4 classes and 2 are hybrid.  For the next three weeks he has to teach in person on Tuesday and Thursday evening.  We decided that for dinner we will fend for ourselves on those nights.  Tonight I am having lobster bisque,

Re: What's cooking this January?

I had an early ultrasound appointment this morning.  I had to be there at 7:00 AM.  They did both kidneys and my bladder. I had to arrive with a full bladder. That's challenging for an old lady. 😆 Our region had snow overnight that turned to rain, which meant for a messy drive.  We padded the driving time accordingly.  The ultrasound was pretty cut and dried, the tech was nice and reassuring.  I particularly liked it when he described my body shape as "slender".  Heck, I haven't heard that description since my early twenties!

The other day, at Walmart, I was shopping for some Kettle & Fire bone broth when I came across a packaged KF soup that looked interesting.  The brand is Proper Good and the soup is packaged in pouches.  I chose to try the tomato basil and the broccoli cheddar flavors. I still have some ham to use and found some low carb bread in the garage freezer.

Today's lunch -

Grilled Ham & Cheese Sandwich

Pickles on the side, for me

Proper Good Broccoli Cheddar Soup (we're sharing the pouch)

Tossed Salad w/Balsamic Vinaigrette

Re: What's cooking this January?

I made miso soup last night for dinner---it had mushrooms, grn onions in it, then put in ramen noodles and dropped eggs and swirled it around for kind of an egg drop thing. Was ok--needed more miso paste in it tho and will add chicken next time too. DD liked it but need to ramp up the flavor more. We order ramen all the time as well as add miso soup to our thai food take out---

Making a pot roast with carrots, onions, sweet & white potatoes. I found a banana bread in the freezer. That will go nicely with hot cocoa to watch a possible snowfall this evening.

These posts are definitely winter comfort at its finest! I'm glad the groceries are pretty well stocked in my house. Not sounding like I'll be going out for a few days. Stay warm & drive carefully.

Thanks @Danky2  ❤️

I got my ultrasound results this afternoon.  For the most part, they're ok. Bladder is good, kidneys are both about the same size and capacity.  There are no cysts and no stones.  The bad part is the size of the mass and that it must be believed to be malignant until further testing proves otherwise.  I suspected that would be the case.  Tomorrow my conversation with my NP will get the ball rolling with recommendations on who to see for the next steps and eventually the biopsy. As has already been addressed here, the waiting is the worst.  I want to do whatever I have to do ASAP.

Snowstorm should let up before midnight. We'll just have some chili tonight.

Another night with just a little sleep.  DH went to the Blackhawks game last night so I waited up for him.  That man can put his head on the pillow and be out in a minute.  I was wide awake so I didn't fall asleep until closer to 1:00AM and eyes wide open again at 4:00AM.  I'm probably going to try to get a nap when we come back from my appointment this morning.  Friends of ours are moving this weekend so we're meeting for dinner tonight. We knew it would happen at some point, just not right now.  It'll be a tough goodbye.  I plan to extend my fasting window today and wait to eat until dinner.  The restaurant offers chateaubriand. I don't think we've had that since our honeymoon!  It is rare to see it on a menu anymore.  Depending on the vegetables that accompany it, that's what DH and I plan to order.  If they don't serve KF veggies, then I'll likely opt for a filet mignon and I'll bet he goes for the wild caught salmon.  Looking forward to a nice salad with good, chunky, bleu cheese dressing too.

ETA - I had a good appointment with the NP.  She was happy with my bloodwork results but said the mass is rather large.  The next step is to see a urologist.  Everything has to follow a process.  She made a call and got me into a highly regarded practice for an appointment tomorrow afternoon.  I'm assuming next step with them will be an MRI and needle biopsy.
