What's Happened to LocknLock?

I stopped buying LocknLock several years ago because of the poor quality and recently started to buy several of the larger containers for storage.  I picked up the K54369   LocknLock 3-Piece Nestable Cereal Containers because of the pour spout INSIDE the container.  Twice now using the large container with white rice, the inner pour lid came out spilling rice all over the floor - approx 2+ cups WASTED.  Okay so I thought maybe it was me in not firmly installing the lid after washing.  Today, careful to make sure the inner lid was secure inside the container, I attempted to pour white rice into a measure cup and not wanting a spill, I carefully started to pour.  All of a sudden the same thing happened.

Closely looking at the lid it's apparent the notch is not sufficient to lock in place.  What a waste of time.  Two major spills of white rice all over everything - maybe rice is too heavy for the inner pour spout...they call these cereal containers...  BTW the 1st order arrived with the middle container cracked and broken.  I returned.  Then from the replacement set I dropped the small container and it cracked and chipped as well.

Anyone else have issues like this?

Re: What's Happened to LocknLock?

I have been a QVC customer for several years.  I have purchasd a lot of Lock 'n Lock and have not had a problem with one item.  They are my favorite containers.  In fairness, I do not need much more so have not made recent purchases.  Sorry to hear if quality has slipped.  I would take it up directly with QVC and/or Chris Pryme or Lock 'n Lock.

@SEGardener

Read the reviews on the item, you're not the only one with issues on the quality of this item.

I've been buying this brand for many years and have never had one crack or a tab break off, but I've been reading many reviews that discuss quality issues recently.

Their quality has really gone down since they first started.  My first set was pretty good, but the next time I ordered they were junk.  Stained super easy, cracked and the tabs fell off.  No more for me.

Re: What's Happened to LocknLock?

I've noticed that many of the lids I have, the tabs are breaking off so only  3 will lock. Have had them for a few years and do use them but not enough for that kind of damage. I have switch to the glass storage containers----there is no staining or bubbling from microwave use and the lids are sturdier.

I just marvel at the constant complaints about LnL containers. I have been buying them for many, many years and its all I ever use for everything. I can honestly say I've never had one problem with them. No staining, no breaking tabs, nothing. I just wonder how hard you all are on yours if they continue to break and stain? Hmmm.

I tend to wonder this, too.   I've had them for some 20 years and still use some of my original purchases on a daily basis.  The only breakage I've experienced has been dropping one out of the freezer.    Well, a couple of times just out of the refrigerator onto my tile floor.  That's not the fault of the product.  It's user error by this klutz.  Plastic gets very rigid when frozen or particularly cold.   I just learned to try and be less klutzy.  Smiley Very Happy

I have seen some small variances in quality.  For example, I tend to find the best quality ones are from either Korea or Vietnam.

I don't get the staining or cracking problems because I do NOT put them in the microwave.  It rather annoys me that they talk about putting them in the microwave because we should know better and I don't think they should recommend that.

But then, I am pretty stract about taking care of my things even things that don't cost that much so I tend to be careful.    I would not want to be without my L&L or my vacuum sealer, as proper food storage is super important to me.    I've tried all kinds of plasticware for food storage and L&L is, by far, the best.    I could probably win a contest of who has the most pieces.   hehe

@chickenbutt I might be able to challenge you on the most pieces of l&l. Woman Happy But I would never know because I would hate to have to count all the ones I have. Woman Very Happy

I'm generally still happy with them. I have had some tabs break and a few came cracked when they arrived. I think some of them are better than others, as someone stated. I like the ones that lock no matter what position they're in, instead of the ones where you have to line up the tabs. I do have the cereal ones the op talked about, but I haven't used them for anything yet. They are very large and not sure where they will go. I've been trying to use them all over the house since I have so many.
