@Pooky1  I used to make broccoli rabbe, even grew it one year, and had to first peel the stems, then blanch it, then saute it in olive oil garlic and salt/pep, sometimes I added sauteed chunks of pancetta. Smiley Happy

@Pooky1

Thank you for the welcome!  I am more of a lurker but I have commented here and there,  I enjoy reading about what you guys have eaten or prepared,  I last 'spoke' to Danky a couple of days ago about the Stew and Tom Leonard food stores up your way in CT and here in my area  of VA.

I am sure I will probably try your rabbi sandwich one day!

Preds, love it when you get here to leave us a hello - they are ALWAYS great! Now do not eat too much candy tonight!! Happy Hallowe'en everyone. Have NO clue what is for dinner. Had some super great white beans with cornbread last night. Unbelievably good!!!

I think summer may have left us - plumb cold this morning and possibly a few drops of rain. Looking at the advanced forecast - it will not get much over 70 on any day - if that.

Slanket time for sure

@Pooky1  I add red pepper flakes or cayenne to many foods, just not to DH's. Smiley Happy

@Winifred  Are your little goblins ready for trick or treating? Smiley Happy  Maybe Leah is too young.  DD's preschool had a Halloween party there, so didn't take her trick or treating.

Re: What's Cooking in October 2017 - trying to get month correct

Sherry is taking the two little ones to her daughter's home for trick or treat. Not real sure if her daughter is having a party or exactly what it is but I can go to bed early! What can I say. Her daughter has a large home and she is very young and very active. Just she, her husband and adopted daughter who is a cutie pie.

I am really sleepy already - well this to me is the perfect bedtime - little before 8. City near us had an incident at an elementary school. All children were gotten out early while an adult male held a teacher at gunpoint. Have not heard the outcome but am hoping no one was hurt and the "kidnapped" teacher is just fine.

Then we have all heard about the tragedy in NYC. And the empty home beside me and down back - it is SLOWLY being redone obviously had some visitors at some time recently. I noticed the screen off but I had misplaced the phone number of the man who owns it. That is the house I first moved into when coming to Ca in late 1960. He is from another country - somewhere in Europe but a real workhorse. Long story short, yes, someone had broken in and stole his compressor, some tools and cut out his copper tubing. He also said there were homeless who were living in the Wash - that house sits a few short feet from the Wash. I went to look and he was so right and there was someone there. I asked him if he had called the police - He said no and I said well I am going to. He actually was most appreciative as I am not sure he knew just what to do - he has never had to deal with police. Am checking tomorrow and if there are homeless in that WAsh still tomorrow I am going to the City as that scares me. Have nothing against homeless but when I saw that guy he was out of it - strongly suspect drugs. Too close to suit me. We shall see - so it has been a mind tiring day.

Tomorrow is another month - where on earth does the time go???
