Re: What's Cooking in August

Thank you. Seems there has been a series of health issues lately and all not good.

Prayers certainly appreciated.

Morning all,

Had birthday lunch yesterday, then came straight home. Some of the gals went to the movie. My car was for those of us wanting to come home.

We have 2 appointments today in Fort Wayne. Nelson has a follow up to his bladder treatment to see if his is cancer free.

I need to ask for some prayers as he is concerned, as I can understand. Asking for a clear bill of health, please.

We are home and very happy with the results. Dr. said he was all clear. Will check again in 3 months. I didn't realize how concerned Nelson was feeling. Keep it to himself, but on the way he said three different times, with a smile on his face, "I'm cancer free,"

Thank you all for your concern and prayers. It helped!

Re: What's Cooking in August

What great news Bev. Sure wish you all lived closer as there would be a real party time going on. For sure we could find an AC area and be comfy and party on. There is a TJ's a few miles down the road where we could go and buy some more Veggie Bird Nests and tons of good eating places. Will say, however, some of our better eating places are closing. Locally we have Paradise Restaurant - has been there for ages and the owners are not elderly so that could not be a reason - perhaps simply just not enough customers altho they have a lot of regulars. They closed Sunday and the customers that were there that day were told - no advance notice. It is now going to be a Mexican Restaurant. Do not have a clue if the current owners will have it or what the circumstances are. Do know there are more than enough restaurants that serve Mexican food. While I really like it, I do not want it every time I go out to eat however. So very disappointed.

Had leftover pork roast and gravy and fried some onions and potatoes and had mixed veggies with butter. Good dinner but the kids are getting persnickety. Their Mother can contribute no good food but brings tons of sodas and candy and junk food - they are munching on garbage food entirely too much I feel. I think she feels that is a substitute for her not demonstrating good parenting skills - and both these kids need that so very much at this time in both their lives. Davey already has a big eating disorder and she brings him this stuff and stashes it where he sleeps. Pretty dumb.

At any rate am planning to attend a breakfast the Bryant St. Baptist church has twice a month. Went two weeks ago and I really liked it - no program at all, just eat and chat time. Very nice. This is the church I came very close to attending. And just as good as it is in the next block - pretty good.

Hope all have a great day and eat well. Again, Bev, am so happy for Nelson - and you too of course!!!!

Re: What's Cooking in August

Good news Soushi, what a relief, I'm sure Nelson is on cloud 9

We have perfect weather today 78, sunny, it's so good to open the windows & let the fresh air in.

Supper tonite is Polish Sausage w/sauerkraut, haven't done that in a long time but I'm getting bored with the same old thing. I'm really thinking the freezer has to go, shop each week for all upcoming meals & you're done.  Well I know the freezer has to go but thinking of getting a smaller one, I don't know if I want to be without one althogether.

Hope all are well

Take Care
