No pictures to post, I haven't figured out how to do that yet. But at any rate, let's start chatting about food in August - or anything else that suits you.

Continuing hot here and last evening we had a good dinner. Fixed a great spiral ham, covered yummy sauce. mashed potatoes and sweet corn. I usually have a green veggie of some kind but just felt like corn. It was good. Also some ww roles. Nothing wrong with that.

Went to KMart in Redlands yesterday to see if I could find a radio with a good weather band to use either by plug in OR battery. So disappointed in that store,it looks like it will close soon. Cluttered, shelves sparsely stocked and I had to spend a lot of time just trying to find a person to answer questions. She was super nice but super uninformed. Obviously knew nothing about the items. They had lots of cashiers however and none real busy. Pretty bad. Needless to say I walked out empty handed. Went to Radio Shack - should have gone there in the first place - and they knew exactly what I was talking about and they had exactly what I was talking about. During the very bad storm we had on Friday - and no electricity for many many yours, I decided to try and use the radio that was my Mother's. She had a huge thing but sorry to say it would not work. She got hers at Radio Shack so like I said I should have just gone there in the first place. She swore by that store - and she was right.

Soushi, where are you? Hope all is well. Soushi usually starts this thread but I jumped in this time.

Hope all stop by and we love recipes and all that good stuff. Have a great day everyone!!!!

Re: What's Cooking in August

boy those steaks, baked taters and tomatoes sound good.  I fear we aren't going to have many good tomatoes here.  Rain wiped a lot out.   I think Soushi is battling the new 10 version on her computer. I see her posting on FB but I hope she gets back in the Kitchen soon.  I, myself, stay out of it and today was no exception. Went to Red a Lobster.   Should have cooked. Lol

Okay, I did start us out but it is no where to be find. Winifred, anytime, you or anyone else can start us out.

I even had a long post to go along for August. Oh, well. Guess it is lost.

Why do we now have to give our email address and password to sign in? AND why did we have a second copy of July what's cooking? That was weird.

And I just finished reinstalling Windows 7. We lost so many games and other favorites with Windows 10.

Re: What's Cooking in August

Morning All Bad storms yesterday, high winds, hail, thunder, etc, not a lot of damage that I can see, but I haven't been out & about yet, will get going soon. Last nite was pork chops, etc, good meal Tonite, who knows, maybe order pizza Tomorrow at the airport, hopefully all the delays & cancellations will be corrected so I don't have a lot of grumpy passengers, they're usually pretty understanding but sometimes not, they just don't understand we can't control the weather. We have cooled off, low 80's today so the a/c is off, sorry ComEd. Sadie, the dog has been out in the yard all morning loving the cooler weather. I'm heading out soon, will check on the neighborhood damage & run a few errands Take Care

Re: What's Cooking in August

Good morning everyone. Preds, always love your greetings. Hi Spix - more storms huh? We'l;l take a couple off your hands.

Last night was primarily left overs. I.e. mashed taters, ham and added some fried cabbage. Rarely toss cabbage in a meal as I usually eat it as a stand alone with  sliced tomatoes or fresh cukes in vinegar but the cabbage was beginning to sag a bit and did not want to lose it. LOL. It was very good. Had the kids clean up afterwards - my goodness one would think the world was coming to an end. Did call Davey's Dad and asked him to spend some time talking to his son - Davey does listen to his Dad - about his nasty behavior and potty mouth about having to do anything. His Dad was livid and said he most definitely would.

Kids in San Bernardino are back in school - way too early as our weather is so terribly hot. Seems each year they start a bit earlier. Our schools start next week - still too early.

What for dinner tonight - do not have a clue. I know I do not feel like standing in front of a stove. May go and load up on some more frozen dinners as everyone - except me - loves those things. Reminds me when we were kids pot pies were the big thing. Being a military family, Dad got paid once a month. We had a freezer and at the first of the month bought a lot of pot pies and the last week of the month, we ate them a lot. Still do not like them. LOL. We also use to buy extra milk and freeze that. Of course trhere were other things but these were the biggies, milk and pot pies.

Hope all have a great day!!
