It's rare that I put bread cubes in a meatloaf. I tend to use oatmeal or crushed crackers.

My mother always used crackers or saltines. I've used everything from oats to regular bread crumbs to Panko. I like bread crumbs best because it gives the meatloaf a nice texture.

I prefer crushed saltines, but have used oats, Italian bread crumbs.
