What is up with the price of mayonnaise?

I made a quick run into our local market to pick up a few things, among them mayonnaise. We use Hellman's real. The standard jar was almost $9.00. When did this happen, I guess I've not bought it lately? It seems the price always ran pretty much in line with Miracle Whip. Neither the price of eggs nor oil has gone up enough to warrant this increase. Anyone know what is going on?

I don't know where you live but could it have been an error ? I bought Hellman's full size last week for $2.99 / jar and I had a $1 off coupon ( Got 4 jars for $8 .)

I don't know what you mean by ""standard"" jar. But I just bought a 30oz. jar a week ago of Hellman's Real mayo for $3.99 at Kroger.

Dang! This reminds me I bought a Best Foods yesterday and left it in my trunk!!!! And it's hot out there! Oh it was $4 for 32 oz

Where did you get at 32 oz???? Everything here is now 30 oz, and on average $4.29-5.49 per jar, with an occasional BYGO free..........and that is even cheaper than what SAM'S is offering...... ${#emotions_dlg.angry}$

I THOUGHT it was a quart.. It was actually $3.98....Well, when I get home from work, I will pull it out of my trunk ( with my fingers crossed that it's still ok) check the ounces, and report back!

It's Buy One Get One Free here at Winn Dixie - Pretty sure the regular price is about $5.99.

Even that seems a little high to me. I can get much larger jars at Same for a lot less. Bought a 2 quart (64 oz) jar there recently for about $7.50. I heard, but don't know for sure, that WD was bought out by something called BiLo. Their prices have been going up rapidly since then. Also some of the better WD products have been scrapped in favor of some other stuff we don't like.
