What is the best way to defrost ground beef & chicken

Hi Everyone -

First off I must say I am not a good cook but I am trying Smile

What is the best way to defrost ground beef or chicken from the freezer?

Do you put it in the refrigerator like a day before you are going to cook it and defrost it that way?
