I attempted to make a peach cobbler that had the following ingredients:
1 stick of butter, 1 cup of milk, 1 cup of self-rising flour, 1 cup sugar and 1 can of peaches. Heat oven to 375 degrees, while heating the oven, melt the stick of butter in a 8 x 8 casserole in the oven. Mix together, flour, sugar and milk, pour over melted butter and then place the peaches over the flour/sugar mixture, DO NOT STIR the layers together. Bake 1 hr or until deep golden brown.
I baked 1 hr and 10 minutes and the bottom was rubbery and unedible. I baked the extra 10 minutes because the center was not done.
What did I do wrong and how do I keep the bottom from being rubbery?
Thank you in advance.
