I can't win DH to my "side"! I tell him that things need to have the air pushed out whre possible to keep things fresh. He says "I'll eat it before then!". A week later I pull it out if the fridge and it looks like a pillow!

Thats just one of those little aggravations you have to bear when you live with a another person. Double aggravation if it's a man. I have my fridge and its management all to myself.

The difference with us, is...... I think everything has an expiration date (3-6 days depending on item) ... he thinks everything "lasts forever"

Mine has no clue what's in our fridge now that I'm home. When I'm away for weeks at a time, he stocks it with his favorites like pudding, hotdogs, cheese or ham....of course, I shelf is for his diet coke!

The fridge is more or less my domain, but I try to keep the top shelf exclusively for beverages. We don't buy cans, but larger containers of milk, soy milk, iced tea, Gatorade for DH and Diet Coke for my son.
Somehow, the guys in this house think EVERYTHING goes on the top shelf, as if it's the only shelf in the fridge. If I ask DH to clear the table, absolutely everything will be shoved onto the top shelf. If I send him to the grocery store.... you guessed it, he'll unpack everything onto that same shelf.
It's not a big problem in the scheme of things, but it's beyond comprehension why they can only see the top shelf.

LOL believe it or not, mine is worse! Mine puts everything in the meat/veggie drawers on the bottom and doesn't tell me he bought stuff and "hid" in the drawer!! I'll find stuff weeks later and have to throw it out UGH!!! At least if he'd put everything on the top shelf I'd know what's in there.

Our difference is about throwing food OUT. I toss something and he wants to know why. I explain about bacteria forming and spoiling the food, etc., it just falls on deaf ears. I wish he had taken home economics in high school where they explain all that stuff. It was mandatory for all in my school.

I do the cooking; my husband washes dishes and cleans up the kitchen, which includes putting the leftovers away. My husband cannot judge what size container is best for the leftovers, and he too loves to put everything on the top shelf of the refrigerator.
He is also the first person to complain about all of the containers taking up valuable space in the fridge. One day last week we had a 6 lb turkey breast for dinner; he took all the meat off the bone and put it in a 3 quart Lock and Lock. There was a dab of cranberry sauce left; just over 1/2 a cup maybe, and that went into a cereal size bowl. Needless to say, by the time he put away the mashed potatoes, green beans, and gravy, the top shelf was fully loaded--again.
The only thing on the bottom shelf above the crisper drawers was eggs and refrigerated biscuits----which is where I relocated the leftovers! Regardless of what I say, and how many times I say it, he puts everything away on that top shelf.

I call my husband the "condiment king" I try to clean it out regularly, but right now there is 4 different mustards, sweet & dill pickle relish, mayo, 3 pickle jars, horseradish, 2 jars of olives & 1 container from an olive bar, some other little jars that I have no idea what they are..btw, I use mayo, yellow mustard, & an occasional pickle. He buys this on his solo trips to the grocery..

He can never find anything he's looking for even though whatever it is, mustard, mayo, etc... has been living in the same spot on the door or shelf forever. Old one is empty, the new one goes right back in the same spot.
Same with the kitchen cabinets and drawers. I keep the steak knives in a different drawer than the regular flatware and it takes him 3 tries to find them. I think I am going to start putting one in each drawer and BINGO found it on the first try!
You'd think I ran around on a weekly basis and moved everything to a new spot.
