Re: What Are You Cooking For Christmas?

@1Snickers Now that sounds like a plan. Don't wait on them like that. They are being rude to you.

Re: What Are You Cooking For Christmas?

Finally the family decided what to do for Christmas!

My son owns a shop and lets help off Christmas Eve, he works until 4. His ex manages a store and works until 5.
He will pick up Barbecue and all the sides from a good local restaurant.
I ordered his favorite carrot cake from a special bakery with Merry Christmas written in it, It will be at his house.

Christmas Day we go to my granddaughter's house so she doesn't have to lug a almost 2 year old and baby brother to her mother's. They will do a late brunch.

I take treats and too many gifts.
I hope all of you are well and have a wonderful Christmas!

Christmas eve we have reservations to go out to eat. On Christmas day I'll make a turkey and add some meatballs with various sides...there will be lots of appetizers & desserts too...no one will go hungry!

Wowza !   50 -60 guests ?   That is amazing.    And you did Thanksgiving ?   You are a trooper.   That is a lot of pressure.  I hope you will have some help.   Deep breaths, and I think there is nothing wrong with asking it to be a potluck style with that many, it would be kind of fun too.

Best of luck let us know how it goes, okay ?   Also, if you have any special recipes you would love to share that would be Amazing !

I'm feeling a little Grinch-like because a family member pushed us into hosting the family gathering again this year (40 to 50 guests). Sure, we could have said no, but then the tradition of gathering at a sibling's house for Christmas would be broken. It's just that we held Thanksgiving, and frankly, it costs a lot to feed so many. I'll make two hams, hot beef, corn casserole and macaroni & cheese. Guests will provide snacks and desserts (I hope). We provide the drinks too.

I would just say no and point out that you did Thanksgiving. It's sounds like you are being taken advantage of at this point. I was in a similar situation. When my Mom passed away all of a sudden I was elected to do every Thanksgiving dinner. I never agreed to it it just happened. After 2 year of this I said I wouldn't do it every year but I would be willing if we all took turns. After that it worked out fine for everyone. Of course  we brought desserts or whatever was needed but to do a whole meal again isn't fair for one person.

Re: What Are You Cooking For Christmas?

I think I am going to be safe with ravioli and a devil's food birthday cake.  A little heritage with a traditional celebration for the December birthday peeps.

I hope everyone enjoys their meals and their day!  Smiley Happy

Re: What Are You Cooking For Christmas?

Same foods every Christmas Eve & Christmas: Prime Rib roast  for dinner, Christmas Morning Strata for breakfast. I am a guest on Christmas Day and I provide dessert every year- a mountain of home baked cookies.
