I cook one a week for all my meals, so when I'm done with all the raw meat and veggies, I run the dishwasher, spray down the sink and counters with Clorox hard surface spray, and nuke my sponge in the microwave for one minute.

I never wash meat or chicken. I try to limit touching it at all costs. LOL

I only buy chicken and meat from a butcher, so it's not sitting in juices or blood. It's very clean when I bring it home.

I always wash my meats and especially after chicken I spray a bleach cleaners in my sink and clean my counter tops

I don't wash chicken. I stopped doing that qquite a while back.

I rinse chicken, not quite buying this, unless you are spraying the water and tossing the chicken around . Rinse the chicken, don't reuse the utensils you just used and wipe up.

I NEVER season steak other than with salt. To me any seasoning ruins a good steak. I want to taste the meat, not other things. Maybe a little butter on at a steak house, but nope, a good steak is all I need.

I don't wash meat because you can't get a good sear on damp meat.

I don't season steaks either. I usually use a little salt and sometimes a dash of onion salt. That's it. I know people who marinate their steaks. Again personal preference but I think then all the steak tastes like is the marinade, so why do that. DH likes some steak seasoning on his and usually he will go and sprinkle that on his while it's cooking but I tell him leave it off of mine.

Sprinkling salt on your steak is considered " seasoning".

I guess I consider "seasoning" using spices, like a McCormicks steak seasoning.

I do continue to wash poultry, but I am very stringent with cleaning my sink, countertop, and all reachable surfaces, with a bleach solution afterwards. The only reason you are urged not to wash poultry is cross contamination. By cleaning the surfaces any poultry juice splatters might have touched, you are taking away the risk of cross contamination. I agree that it is just a matter of using common sense.

I also buy higher quality - organic - meat/poultry & I trust the safety of my sources.

I ALWAYS wash my poultry well, inside and out. I do this before brining or marinading. The amount of blood and organ debris that flushes out of some are unbelievable. I also trim off most of the fat found around both openings.

One must handle the birds properly. I never allow them to rest in the sink or on the rack, which has been removed prior to washing the bird. After washing I pat it dry both inside and out.

Once brined, it again gets rinsed to remove any excess salt. And patted dry again before adding any oils or spices.
