All I know is that the Wagyu steak I ate in a Japanese restaurant was imported from Japan and it did not taste the same as American-raised Wagyu beef. The Japanese steak was sweeter and I did not care for it. I don't care for either one actually.

I have eaten wagyu ground meat before---and bought some too. Not sure I remember it tasting any different, good or bad. Was on sale once so that's why I tried it. Cost way to much for me.

I tried it.  Wasn't impressed, not "beefy" and the grease left in the pan smelled disgusting!  I won't buy it again!

I like the thin cut ribeyes!  Expensive but taste grand!

Whether Americana or Australian, it is not as good as Waygu/Kobe from Japan. Buttery and rich, it is second to none IMO. People might not be used to such beef considering most are used to American beef.

Local butcher shop is advertising for pre-order for Wagyu beef....$39/lb!  Personally I don't even like the looks of it, and that price is a show-stopper for sure.  No thanks!
