Any pressure cooker makes rice. WHY a separate "rice" cooker? {#emotions_dlg.blink}

I live alone so why would I want to use a pressure cooker for a cup of rice or piece of chicken. Duh.

A pressure cooker will make one piece of chicken, rice or ANY amount you choose! {#emotions_dlg.rolleyes}

Same here. I don't feel I need a pressure cooker as I am home and have time to cook. I do have Emeril's rice cooker but it is larger and harder to move around. I think this little one will be great for those of us that cook for one or two. I also have to watch my portions so this will be great and I may even leave it out since it is so small. If not, I can easily find cabinet space for it--The Emeril cooker has to be stored in a more inconvenient place due to its size. Anxious to try the new rice cooker from Wolfgang.

I bought two rice cookers & the smoothie maker. I have always been pleased with his products. I didn't buy it to make rice. I purchased it to make mini meals since I live alone. It seems the OP has a personal grudge against Wolfgang, but I bought a set of pans from Emeril that I was not happy with so guess it's a personal preference.

I'm also interested in using it for the mini meals. I want to try the quiche and maybe meatloaf with my own recipe. Also will be adding meat and/or vegetables with the rice to make a meal or two.

Same here, exactly. Besides small being logical for me (party of one) I have a kitchen the size of a postage stamp. Counter space? What's that? :-(

I've been trying to think of other things to use in the quiche besides bread (which doesn't sound that appetizing to me). Tortilla? Refrigerator biscuit? Will definitely try meatloaf, mac & cheese and a rice or pasta, veggie and meat combo - with curry, for one.

I've been successfully cooking rice in a saucepan for many years and see no need to add a specialized rice-cooking appliance to my kitchen! My microwave warms food and reheats leftovers, too. I don't see why I'd need a rice-cooker, but I'm happy you like yours.

I got one and I don't eat rice. But, I do like pineapple upsidedown cake, soup, grits, omelets, quiche and cheesecake for one. Found the recipes today on pinterest. I don't like food in microwaves. Enjoy your saucepan.

I just don't understand what people get out of making posts like that. They have to have decided with malice aforethought to take a deliberate swipe at others, ignoring all information that has come before in the thread. To what purpose? Just to be p i s z y because they can? Okay, so now we know posters can be randomly rude to no purpose. Moving on ...

I watched the presentations and the rice and other dishes were all overly browned (almost burnt) on the bottom. This turned me off the rice cooker. I also did not not knowing the time and / or temperature used to cook in it.

WP has said for many years now that his favorite part of the rice is the browned rice at the bottom but it has always prevented me from getting one.

There are many other rice cookers that are available that I would choose, but the great thing about pressure cookers is they will work with the smallest amounts up to their stated capacity and they are more energy efficient.

Another thing the WP rice cooker lacked was its ability to automatically cook brown rice and other non white rice grains.

I noticed Friday that Sam's Club has for less than $30 a very nice rice cooker that truly is a multicooker with multiple grains capability included and a larger capacity as well made by Aroma.

I don't like rice much, so that settled it for me.

haha.....so I ended up buying two when I saw it doesn't only make rice. I will send back if I don't like it. I see they already had a new model up last night with a detachable cord, and scoop.
