QVC is by no means the only retailer selling them - I've stood in a group and watched a demo at my local Costco more than once and I've seen Vitamixes walk out of there those days as well as on days when there were no demos.
I even think I know why they show them over and over: Every time I see one, I want one! That is a totally ridiculous want. I have no convenient place to put one on my counter, I do not have enough strength in my right hand to easily life one into place every day so I could use it - and I absolutely have no need for one.
Still - when I saw there was a TSV today _ I had to look. Just had to even though I know, for me, buying one would be absurd.
You said it!

I am fascinated by this product but I must avoid sugar and so many of the smoothies have fruit in them which are loaded w/sugar.

They are hugely popular right now. People buy them. If they didn't, QVC wouldn't continue to sell them. End of story.

Soup? Cream of broccoli, cream of spinach, cream of watercress? Carrot soup? Squash soup? I make cream soups using powdered milk, but if you are lactose intolerant, you can just make blended soups. I sometimes add potatoes to thicken them up. I love my soups!

You can also thicken soups with canned/cooked beans. The thing about smoothies is that you can put whatever you like in them. It may take a while to get used to them, but my smoothies are mostly greens/ veggies.

QVC sells a lot of these machines because of the easy pay option. For some people who want one it is the only way they can afford it. 6 payments interest free if you want one is the way to go whether you can afford to pay the lump sum or not it is the way to go. The values here are decent, only better buy is a refurbished machine directly from Vitamix but of course no payment plan there. I love mine.
