Vitamix vs Kitchen Aid

ok, ladies, I have been waiting for the KA blender to be the TSV (I purchased my KA Stand mixer, hand mixer and food processor that way). Now I am looking at the Vitamix and wondering if I should go that way?

Is the Vitamix a better product? I don't have a blender now, I have bought the Chris Freytag blender and use it to make smoothies (I make at least 1 a day for me and sometimes 1 for my DH) I wear them out, so I was going to get a good one. Is this one worth the additional money? Thanks!
