Vitamix shifting

So I went ahead and bought one of the Vitamix about six months ago...I love it but have a problem. When I turn set the pitcher on the base is sits square, as soon as I turn it on it seams to shift or turn about an inch in the base...It just seams weird that it moves so easy and Im not sure if thats normal or not...It sometimes sounds like its stripping the bottom gear...I love it either way just dont want to damage it.
