I have a Vita mix and use it mainly for smoothies. One of the fruits I like to use are frozen raspberries. The vendor says that the machine liquefies everything, including seeds. I still have the seeds after processing. If I process longer, the mix gets hot, which I don't want. What am I doing wrong?

I don't know. I don't use raspberries. I do use frozen blueberries…. As long as the unit is on what I call "turbo" mode, they are liquified. But, if I only run it on high, I do get pieces of skin. LOVE my Vitamix!

I run it on the ""turbo"" after turning it up to 10 on regular speed. Those seeds just don't liquefy. Frustrating because I really like raspberries and they are loaded with vitamins.

I use strawberries, blackberries, and raspberries and I have no problem with seeds at all. I suggest you call Vitamix Customer Service (their number can be found on either the back or the bottom of your machine's motor base, depending on the model) and a representative will give you some tips and walk you through the process so you can get better results.

I like to blend smoothies for a full two minutes. I like to add ice at the start and again about 30 seconds before it is done.

Run it for as long as it takes to liquefy the seeds...THEN add extra ice cubes to cool it down.
I don't mind the seeds - but I always run it thoroughly - then instead of ice cubes, I usually add half a frozen banana I keep in a lock 'n lock in the freezer for this purpose.

I've had the same problem with the seeds from frozen raspberries or mixed berries. I cannot eat seeds for health reasons. I will try some of the suggestions. Also, my Vitamix never mixes items as fast and smoothly as when Jan does the demos.

Thanks for the suggestions!
I don't like adding a lot of ice to the mixture because I think it waters it down. However, I've considered making ice cubes out of juice and adding those.
I have the taller container, does anyone know if I can use the shorter one on that base? Can the shorter one be ordered separately?
