I bought one of these the last time it was the TSV. When I tried it out for the 1st time several months ago, the pitcher came off and all the contents went on the floor.

I made sure it was securely in place before I turned the machine on!

Well, after cleaning the mess on the floor and getting over my embarrassment that I couldn't use a mixer properly (I know it's not rocket science we're talking about here), I noticed the center (gear?) on the bottom of the pitcher has been stripped terribly. Additionally, the place where the pitcher (gear?) goes into on the base is also stripped.

I now have had this Vitamix machine on our countertop for 8+ months and I haven't used it since. I have probably damaged the machine beyond usability until I send it to Vitamix for them to repair it.

Fine...ugh. Then I have to get over my fear of the same thing happening again. I don't know how the guy doing the presentations has the pitcher to stay in place when he has it on a high speed (not even needing to hold the pitcher in place so it doesn't go into orbit), when I had it on low and didn't even have a chance to put it on high speed before the disaster occurred one week after I bought it.

How am I going to hold the pitcher down, while using the center stirring/mixing rod AND varying the speed all at the same time...who has 3 hands?

The model we have is (K38547) - Vitamix Creations 48 oz 15-in-1 2-speed blender w/dry container...

Any insight/help would be greatly appreciated.
