VitaMix container and tamper

I want a smaller container for my Vitamix (have 64 oz. now, want 32 oz.) and am looking at E36984. Part of the description says:

  • Compatible with any Vitamix food tamper, not included

I don't understand how that works. The 64 oz. container is much taller than the 32 oz. How can the longer tamper be used in the shorter container without the tamper reaching the blade? {#emotions_dlg.unsure}

Has anyone here done that...used the original tamper (for the 64 oz.) in a 48 oz. or 32 oz. container?
