FLASHBACK!!! That looks like the kitchen in our first house!

When I was a kid friends of Mom and Dad had a knotty pine kitchen.  I thought it was the most beautiful kitchen I had ever seen.  Promised myself when I had my own home I would have a knotty pine kitchen.  But it never happened, the wood became extinct and of course it went out of style.

Looks like our first house too except our counter tops were yellow.

My dad built our house and our living room was done in knotty pine.

Our early '50s house had knotty pine in the Living Room and kitchen.  Kitchen counter yellow formica. My parents never remodeled or updated and the furniture was all that Early American style.   Too dark and heavy with these big drapes she had over the windows. and Venetian blinds!  the metal old school ones. and the textured wall-to-wall carpeting. ugh

Wow...that image brings back a lot of great memories. Growing up, we used to take a lot of family vacas to Lake George, NY and stayed in cabins with entire interiors like that...

I'd love to redo our kitchen like that...retro countertops and all.
