I didn't know where to put this. This past week we here were talking about those 'clubs' where you order prepackaged food, it's delivered and you cook it.
Well, today my daughter in Denver fixed her first order. It came from Hello Fresh.
She had some kind of coupon to try it. It cost her $25 (normally $45) They provide everything. Dinner in 30-35 minutes. She called it Cauliflour, pancetta mac and cheese. I don't eat cheese or much of a variety of food so it wouldn't work for me.
She is very adventurous when it comes to cooking and eating (she eats everything). She's a great cook (doesn't get it from me).
She broke her knee skiing in 2 places, had major surgery. Then about 1 1/2 weeks ago had the pins removed.
She lives in Denver and can order anything and everything......and she does! Ha! (Amazon delivers ice in about 1 to 1/2 hour). Hummm???
Anyway, she said it was delicious and has already ordered for the rest of the week some other foods.
Just wanted to give you an update on her experience.
I've been thinking about trying it, but I'm very, very picky and I don't think it would work for me.

I don't want to be bothered with having to cook a meal just because it lands on my doorstep. I tried Hello Fresh and the meals never arrived when they said they would. They'd say something was sent but it didn't arrive. I cancelled the whole thing.

I used Blue Apron for 18 months (2 orders a month) and had a great experience with it. I learned a lot about different ingredients and cooking techniques. Tried a lot of new foods! I recommend these deliveries to anyone who wants to try new foods and learn more about cooking
The food quality was usually the best. Got a few ingredients that were sub par. I substituted my own items, let the compny know, and got compensated.

There is certainly a market for those services, but I wouldn't participate. I noticed our local grocery store has added some meal prep kits which I would consider buying.

I had signed on to Hello Fresh and liked it a lot for the most part until I tired of so many repeats of quinoa, couscous, and green beans. After awhile it seemed like the same basic meals. but with a twist in flavors. was telling me I'd been on it long enough. It was an interesting experience.

I tried Plated for a few months and thought it was pretty good, but the hubs wasn't a fan as he is a plain eater and the meals were "too fancy" for him---sheesh!!!! Was fun to open the box up.Got some really good recipes tho. One gripe---I had many of the included ingredients already so was paying twice for them. But now I have my new Instant Pot and just got the Cuisinart Griddler--awesome machine-!!!--so am back to cooking on my recipes and meals.

My daughter has Hello Fresh and she likes it. A good variety of foods.
My question is....Once the food is harvested, taken to the facility, measured and packed and shipped......just how FRESH is the food you are cooking on the 2nd or 3rd day?
Often frozen foods are actually processed (frozen) quicker than the fresh produce reaches your supermarket and you purchase it and keep it a day before cooking it! Want fresh, grow it!
