My son is vegan. I am not, tho I have used tofu a lot in the past.

Tonight, he suggested he'd like a tofu press for Christmas. Amazon has several, fairly well-rated. Can anyone tell me what to look for in one? I would greatly appreciate it!

(I was just happy slicing thru the packaging and squeezing the moisture out. Apparently that doesn't do it, for his use.)

I have never used tofu but did watch Trisha Yearwood on her show, she said the BEST tofu press is a cast iron fry pan!

@summerwind I have an old tofu press (probably antique now) from my aunt that may be from Japan, so I can't help you. I don't know what to look for when buying one. Smiley Happy

I just wanted to comment that your post reminded me that I had a vegetarian roommate in college. I spent a summer studying Korean traditional music in Seoul and really like the mandu and their dipping sauce. Mandu is a Korean dumpling. When I came home, I took a cube of tofu (medium, not firm or soft) and squeezed it in a dish towel to get all of the water out. It crumbles, and then you can mix it with ginger, garlic, green onions, etc. and use it to fill won ton skins. Anyway, it's a great substitute for traditional won ton filling, and my friend loved it!
