I am alone now with the passing of my husband.  No children.

I don't know why I'd ever own such an appliance or so many others now.

Do you think that an air fryer would be sensible for me now?

I don't think it has anything to do with being alone or having kids.  It's going to depend on your cooking style and the types of foods you like to cook.  Air fryers come in all different sizes, and while they excel at making convenience foods crispy, many also like to cook steaks, burgers, salmon, etc. in them.

I hope so.  I just purchased one for that same reason!

I'm learning to cook for 1.  Keep eating well, you need that now!

@Puzzle Piece

I use my air fryer every day because it keeps me from turning on the oven for a small baking job.

With my Instant Pot brand air fryer, I broil steaks, chicken breasts, pork chops, crispy fries, onion rings, bake biscuits, rolls, garlic bread, pizza rolls, potstickers, pot pies, chicken nuggets, and reheat pizza.  I wouldn't be without an air fryer and even have a backup on the shelf in the pantry for when I need it.

My favorite counter top appliance is the Oster French Door oven.

Use it daily and much more so than the air fryer.  Cooks food pretty much the same as an air fryer as it is convection however the versatility is there.

Love sheet pan meals for their ease and highly adjustable in terms of volume and food content.

It's also big enough to use a huge Le Creuset for braising.

Am very sorry for your loss----

I think that if you enjoyed cooking before, you will still after this new phase  isn't so new--maybe? An airfryer is certainly a convience appliance. It is easy to use and after a bit of a learning curve, food is really very tasty and easy and fast, whether it is fast food or home made. I mostly cook homemade in it and not so much from the freezer.  Clean up isn't much and not a huge footprint for storage. A small one may be ideal for you.

@Goodie2shoes We have a small Breville oven/air fryer and do use it frequently.  We had a Philips air fryer and used it maybe 3 times then donated.  But we also use our big oven at least 3 times a week.  We cook a lot: cooktop, rice cooker, instant pot, bread machine and big ovens.
