Oh my, I was just thinking earlier this week that I want to pick up some lemons next time I go to the store.  Love to add them to my sweet tea!  I wonder if I might have any luck with a Meyer Lemon tree indoors.

I see the price increases here at the stores in produce.  Last month I got 5 Honeycrisp apples for my lunch bag, and they were about $20.  I knew they were one of the most expensive apples, but I didn't realize they would be that much!  They had raised the price since I had been there the previous week.  They practically doubled the price per pound in one week.

@wildcat fan

that seems to be the same here.  I choked when I bought 4 honey crisp apples and they were $22!  Yet, love them & they never go under $3.99/lb so that day either I lost my mind or just really wanted them!!! Yummmmm they were delicious!!

Re: The Cost of a Lemon

[ Edited ]

Holy smokes is right. I guess I will be going on a citrusless diet as I refuse to pay that much for anything. The cost of merely existing is ridiculous. Am thinking of going back to living off the land and buy less at the stores. If only can get DH on board with this thought LOL

one of my favorite fruits, avocados, have almost doubled in price at Costco.  I am grateful for my meyer lemon tree.  I would never give up my fruits/veggies.  I think of them as a disease deterrent.  The price of health is immeasurable.

(Don't know where the line came from)

I go through a lemon a day, 2 if they are small. I guess I will just bear any price increase.

Last week they were @ .69, but they really didn't look that great. I went to the bag lemons which always have a ton of seeds!

We have a great Lisbon Lemon tree. It yields around 100 seedless lemons every year, and they are all from softball to baseball sized. I give away a lot to church and family and juice up a lot for future use. The 2017 crop is now growing and looks like another good year.

I haven't had to buy a lemon or a lime for quite a while as a friend has a tree and gives them to me. i'll have to tell her they are becoming a commodity.She just gave me a bunch before we left for the summer.

I knew I had a picture that DH took somewhere and found it. He put George next to it for comparison. Shows one of the large and a small. You can see why everyone loves to get our lemons.

I don't believe that lemons are becoming a "commodity".  At least not in the mid-Atlantic area (just outside of DC).  I just got back from my weekly Trader Joe's trip.  Single lemons were $.39 each.  $1.49 for a bag of what looked to be 8-10.

For the poster who posted four apples for $22??????????  Where do you live???
