Are the carvings outside filled in with glaze or just a carving into the pottery so that stuff can get lodged inside the carving. And inside is the pattern painted on?

Re: Temptations floral lace

@mjmm

The  square set that I received  was to give as a gift , some dinner plates were not sealed properly  as you could not only see but feel  where the glaze did not coat where the lace design  was cut into the  plate .  Some dinner The bowls and  sandwich plates  were coated as the design was not carved into the interior where you would be placing food.

I won't buy again as these imperfections can cause food safety issues .

The few pieces I've purchased in the past, mugs and tall mugs, were completely glazed.

@mjmm - The outer carvings are completely glazed; in a video posted years ago, they showed that there are actually multiple layers of glaze because they glaze before and after they add the colored glaze around the floral pattern. On the inside, the design is hand-applied using a colored stamp and again is completely covered by multiple layers of glaze. As with most stoneware, there may be a rim or other small area on the bottom that is not totally glazed where it comes into contact with the kiln/oven, but there should be no worries about that.

All that said, though, I never put any of my stoneware in the dishwasher—the natural nonstick properties of the pieces typically make this unnecessary, and it's better safe than sorry when it comes to potential for water damage due to soaking.

@January121 I have to agree with you. There's no end to Tara's designs.

I think I’m the only one or one of few who has never liked Temptations. Obviously some do as Tara is surely a millionaire.
