Temptations Styrofoam is environmentally a poor choice

Please ask Temptations to Stop using Styrofoam as packing material.  There is no where to recycle it.  It shreads and leaves statically charged white crumbs everywhere.  It's a mess!

There are plenty of cardboard formable options around that are clean and go right in the recycling!  I would suggest Temptations get on the enviromental wagon and update their packaging.

Thank you!

I repurpose styrofoam - it's great when storing fragile items like holiday decor, etc. It also makes a fun and different filler for gift bags.

In my area styrofoam is recycled.  The Tiny House Community Development organization use it.  I don't know what they do with it.  But a post went out to my townhome comunity for this purpose.  So maybe check around, it may be used in your community.

I recall reading a review in regard to the packaging of VPH products. The reviewer stated that by the time she finished unpacking her VPH products, the Styrofoam held up so poorly that her living room looked like a snowstorm.

Temp-tations is even worse. They use small 'pieces' of styrofoam, talk about a mess.

An unnecessary mess, just to save a buck.

I hate styrofoam but I am sure it is the cheapest in the short run for vendors and adding to the pollution of the planet in the long term.

The foam polystyrene you're likely trying to recycle is used in packaging peanuts, egg cartons, take-out containers, etc. Short answer: Styrofoam is NOT recyclable and shouldn't be placed in outdoor or commercial recycling bins. Long answer: Styrofoam can technically be recycled, it's just highly inefficient to do so.

I agree.  I hope all products will become more enviornmentally friendly.  Many consumers really care!

KathieB,

You're fortunate if you have Styrofoam Recycling in your area.  I've researched extensively in my area, Eastern Iowa, and can't find anybody that does.  Some sites imply they will, but won't when you get to them.  Another used to, but stopped.

I'm not sure why Styrofoam isn't recycled readily like cardboard.  Probably costs too much to get a reuseable product.  Too bad it isn't banned then.

If I'm buying Eggs and I have a choice between Styrofoam Cartons and Cardboard Cartons, I choose the Cardboard Carton every time!  And when the carton is empty, guess what, it goes in the recycling bin!  Come on Egg Producers, get with the program!
