Re: Tell Me About Your Sealer

I love my food saver.  I think I am on my 3rd one in abouit 30 years.  I like to use the large bags. I wrap my meats individually in plastic wrap and then place in the bag.  I freeze before sealing and when frozen, seal it.  This way I have large bags of each type of meat and they don't get lost in the freezer..  When I open and take out what I need, just reseal.

We also use it to seal bags of chips, cereal, crackers, etc.  We hae saved more money this way then I can imagine.

I agree with the woman who said it is great for cheese.  We never use a whole block at once.  Cut off what you need and reseal.

Keep it handy and you willl use it for everything.

@kitty60 do you freeze the cheese or keep it in the fridge?

@grandma2pkmh  I also have a food saver, but do you  partially freeze meats that are juicy before sealing?  The juice from the meat interferes with sealing if I do not pre freeze a little bit.

I would love to buy just the baggies that you can vacuum seal - those look great.

Re: Tell Me About Your Sealer

@Mom2Dogs  I do not pre-freeze the chicken and pork chops but I usually do for the ground beef.  Also I bought the TSV because my FoodSaver is hugh and heavy and making some strange noises but it is also at least 20 years old.  I order my bags from either Amazon or direct from FoodSaver when they are having a BOGO sale.
