Tea Reviews and Updates June 22

I have some updates and thoughts on teas I have ordered and tried recently, and thought some might be interested.

Zealong Tea Company--I tried a sample assortment and all of them were very weak, didn't have much flavor.  I won't try them again.

Adagio Tea--Golden Monkey, portions sample package, and oolong.  They were all good, not exceptional but certainly good tea.

Tea Forte--One of my favorites and they are having a summer sale now.  Canisters are $13 because they are going to new designs I think.  I love the ones they have and ordered more of Rasberry Ganache, Black Current and Camomille Citron and Blueberry Merlot.

The Blueberry and Raspberry are great iced teas.  I think they have the best green and herbal teas I have ever had--by far.  Some things are 40 percent off--I think it's still on today!  I really have only had one of their teas I did NOT like and it had rooibos in it.    And their Jubilee assortment is to me wonderful!  I like the teas in it!

I forgot Rishi Tea!  I got one of their sample packages too and so far, it has been good tea.  And I also got the little glass teapot along with it and love it!  You leave the leaves in and it filters them out, so it's easy to re-steep for more tea!

I have tried the English breakfast and The China Breakfast--which was not as strong but still good.  I think there are better ones, but it was ok.  Way better than the tea from New Zealand mentioned above.

Your post is very timely. I was thinking about learning the different teas. I think it would be fun. I just placed an order from Forte tea. I bought the tea carafe and samples. Thank you for your help on my learning journey.

Re: Tea Reviews and Updates June 22

@Sooner I had read that hibiscus tea helps with lowering blood pressure.  I take medication for my bp but it was still not so great do I decided to give the tea a try.

I bought Republic of Tea's Natural Hibiscus and their Lean Green Supergreen Matcha & Garcinia with Cinnamon tea blend.  Both hibiscus and matcha green tea have antioxidants which are good for you.

I have been making myself a pitcher of this tea mixture almost every day for the last two weeks.  It's delicious and has a natural sweetness so I found no need to add any of my own. I have been trying to drink more water which is not easy when I don't feel thirsty and the tea helps a lot.

I can't believe that it has significantly lowered my plood pressure by almost 20 points!  I did mention this to my vascular doctor when I saw him last week and he agreed that hibiscus tea does lower blood pressure.  I see my  primary soon and will mention it to her as well.

Republic of Tea is a quality brand and they use unbleached bags for their teas. They tend to b a bit pricey though but not as pricey as Tea Forte.

In addition, I know this sounds a bit crazy but my arthritis seems to be not as painful. My hands and knees don't hurt as much!

This is something that I plan on sticking with if things continue to go well.  When I go on vacation, I plan on bringing some tea bags with me!

@haddon9   Thank you so much for posting this!  I am going to check on what's in some of these favorite sweet/tart more herbal tea mixes I now love especially iced!

It has taken me awhile to adjust what I now spend money on retired.  I decided that a can or jar of great tuna is worth more to me than the price of a fast food meal.

A special cup or glass of tea is something I can spend more on than that soda or tea at a restaurant. Also, I have tried teas since the 1980's so I have my basic and standard ones that are not on the expensive side.

I'm old, retired and so I can "adjust" like I wouldn't have when working! Woman LOL I can have different treats (lucky me!) and pay more attention to health--so I really really appreciate your posting what you did! Woman LOL  Looking back wow I spent so much eating out!  Woman Embarassed

@Sooner Some of those sound really delicious but too much licorice root can be unhealthy.  Too much can be bad for those with heart, kidney & high blood pressure.  At least that's what I have read and though I love licorice I try to not consume too much.

I'm going to keep drinking my hibiscus/matcha green tea mixture and see how it goes after a few more weeks.

I agree that quality treats are so worth it now that we aren't working anymore!  Sometimes it's the small things that make life pleasurable!

@haddon9 Yes--watch the licorice intake (Woman Embarassed) and yes, it really is the little thing, the simple thing, that we have time to relish and experience now!  It's a real treat!  Woman Happy
