For weekly shopping I go to Bottom Dollar - $50-$75
Or Shoprite - $75-$100
Bulk Paper goods I go to BJ's when I get the FREE 60 days membership coupons - $50
Yes food has gone up considerably. I realized this when my teenage grandson spent a few weeks with me for the summer. My total food bill for 3 1/2 weeks did run close to $900.
I told my daughter & SIL that the next time he comes to visit for that long, I'm gonna have to apply for food stamps for the length of his visit.
I miss ShopRite. ![]()

My friend has a daughter with three refrigerators, one is double size. And they are all full. How many people in the family? Two. Compensating for something there.

I spend $150 a week at Wegmans and about $30 at Target/Costco or some other store for the few things I can't get at Wegmans or are much cheaper elsewhere.
HOW do you spend $30 at Costco?
Or, better yet, how do you leave Costco without spending at least $100?
Never, ever get a cart. If I can't carry it, I don't need it
When I go to buy cases of bottled water, I can easily spend $100 because I have to have a cart. So I make sure to run in, buy lots of cases, and run out before I crack.

Oh man. I can't "stock" food. I buy exactly what I need for what I am making that week. The end.
I pick out my recipes on Tuesday or Wednesday to shop on Thursday or Friday and cook on the weekend for the week (eat half/freeze half). I try to make things that require the same fresh herbs and fresh ingredients (like dairy) so that I don't waste it (although Wegmans is good about just the right amount of cheese I need, which helps.

Right now I have a can of enchilada sauce in my closet from a recipe I ended up not making.
It's been there for months making me crazy. LOL I don't like unaccounted for food.
(You should see me measure out my 2 Tablespoons of walnuts that I need for my baked oatmeal every week!)

I would say we spend six hundred a month for food and cleaning supplies, etc. for the two of us - and one cat. But that is with a well stocked house. I always have extras of everything, I love a full fridge, freezer(s), pantry and storage cabinet in the utility room (cleaning supplies, toilet paper, Kleenex, shower gets, toothpaste, etc.)
My husband said I could do inventory control for the military! I am very organized, same with supplies at the office, I keep everything under control there as well.
BUT - and a big BUT - I never waste anything. I always keep an eye on perishables and use by dates, etc. I cannot stand to throw away good food. CANNOT STAND IT .
I have no idea what it would cost to start from scratch around here - thousands I suppose.
We eat very little meat in our house (unless making a family dinner - roast or something) and eat out dinner a couple nights a week and every Sunday after church. My husband eats breakfast out every morning and I don't eat breakfast at all unless it is a high protein bar. I eat out a couple times a week for lunch with friends.
ETA, I mainly shop at WalMart SuperCenter and Aldis but pick up stuff in Dollar General, Dollar Tree, etc. now and then.

How ya doing sweetie? Remember, if you need any size lightbulbs, they are on the top shelf in the back - next to the fabric softener and bleach.

I send my husband to the store often just so he knows how much stuff costs. Probably thinks I'm building up a stash.
