Has anyone found a sugar-free candy for diabetics that is good tasting and does not contain a lot of sugar alcohols? I am particularly sensitive to these and they give me a lot of intestinal cramps and problems. HELP.....

Werther's Original Sugar Free. Check out the ingredients on line since i don't have the bag in my office. I eat these during the day and they are very tasty. Not sure if they would qualify for what you need, but you can give them a look. They are hard candies and come in assorted flavors (in a bag). Good luck with your search.

i love hershey's sugar-free dark chocolate--but do not know about the sugar alcohol content.

I would like to know too as I also cannot tolerate the sugar alcohols. I do carry Werther's with me in case I'm out and just need a little something. I only have 1 or 2 and have had no issues. Yes, they are a small hard candy.

As diabetics, my husband and I do not do sugar free, anything. We feel we are better off to adjust to less of our favorite candy, than to process the artificial sweeteners and sugar alcohol in sugar free products. Because we do not deprive ourselves of a taste of the things we like, we are better able to manage consumption of our favorite sweets.

As a type 1 diabetic I don't do sugar-free anything too! These candies will raise your blood sugar. Just because it says it contains no sugar does not give a diabetic the go ahead. I have learned that anything I put in my mouth will affect my blood sugar. Everything.

I tried sugar free York Mints one time I was on the 'throne' for awhile
Xorital was in it something like that. Not for me. LOL

My hubs is also a diabetic, and we both steer clear of sugar free anything. As another commentor noted - anything makes his blood sugar go up, sugar free or not. He has to watch his portions
I have had HORRIBLE experience with sugar free candies a couple of times ... I can't do it, it's like I have instant IBSD.
We also avoid fat free stuff.

I tend to agree with this

Russell Stovers taste fantastic: the downer for me is that it elevates my blood sugars more than the real thing!
The problem is with any artificial sweeteners, you don't know until you test. A product may claim zero impact on blood sugars-that is not the case at all.
I thought I would die without my "treats", but once I began to the diet given to me by my doctor, everything fell into place.
I am not lecturing: Diabetes is a different journey for everybody-but it can indeed have life threatening consequences.
Just know that RD's classify sugar alcohols as carbohydrates.....in the end, it's all about YOU and how you react. Don't lose sight of that....
