@Bobbieg  Not knowing the full recipe, that's hard to answer with confidence.  Applesauce and pork chops are classic together; however, I'd be careful with the level of actual liquid needed for extended cooking times (not to mention its compatibility to what other ingredients you're adding).  If it were me, I would want to be sure to have at least 50% more applesauce on hand, just in case more is needed during the cooking.  Another factor that matters is how tightly your crockpot lid fits.

I use Knorr Homestyle Stock.  These are little tubs packed four to a box that you use  with water to make 3 1/2 cups of broth.  I used to lug home cases of canned chicken broth, now I just buy these from Amazon.  I live where many items are not available locally, these should be in major grocery chains.  High in sodium if that is an issue for you, I think there is a lower sodium version.
