Today's Top Value on the vine is the Cook's Companion Open Top 5qt Mixer! I missed it last time, but got it today in mint green, very retro! I'm very excited! This one promises to be much easier to store and move around than my old Wolfgang Puck one, which is heavy like the Kitchen Aid. There are several videos using this mixer on YouTube. It also comes with cookies beaters that the last one didn't come with.

Did you see the demo this morning????
She made cookie dough, added chips and m&m's, turned it to high power for the cookies and if it wasn't for those suction cups, that mixer would of flew off the counter. Those little suction cups aren't going to last very long either, the plastic of cups looks flimsy.
The demonstrator then said look you can't see a trace of baking powder or soda...really? You wouldn't be able to see those just due to the fact the dough is moistened and I would doubt those 2 would show in any type of dough....didn't understand that one at all.

I finally got the video to stream. It is powerful, but she did that to show the suction cup power. There is no way that I would do that normally, especially with a tough dough.

I saw the presentation at midnight - it's certainly different!
I would never order it (love love both my KA hand and pro stand mixers) but baking is a science/chemistry. I noticed vendor "dumped" entire flour mixture into open bowl (while mixing) and a lot of the flour landed on beater holder top and some landed outside.
seemed like a good amount NOT mixed into batter. Of course, I'm sure we would be more controlled.
its just a wierd concept to me. And I wonder about those little suction feet if they keep it from "walking on the counter" she stated it's not heavy.
