Re: Stuff In the Pantry--Let's Get Creative!

@luvmyteddy4 : while grocery shopping when so many items not available I thought about purchasing a bread machine - but in the store the bread flour, dry milk and yeast were sold out. Southern Bee

Re: Stuff In the Pantry--Let's Get Creative!

This may be a little too creative for some.  I found some green beans in the freezer.  They were a little past prime let's say but still not old and not awful.

SO I put them in the vitamix with some yogurt, pom juice, a shot of vanilla creamer (just a tablespoon or so) and almond milk and some ice.

It was a very good smoothie and my husband liked it.  You really didn't taste the frozen beans, but they gave it some body and added fiber!  LOL!!!

I see a clean freezer in our future!

Re: Stuff In the Pantry--Let's Get Creative!

If you have those big cans of tuna (12 oz size or 2 of the smaller size cans), you could make tuna burgers.  I love those things.  All you need is an egg, cracker crumbs, a little chopped onion and chopped celery, if you have it and the tuna.. Mix ingredients together and fry like salmon cakes. I think they're better than salmon patties.

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?

Re: Stuff In the Pantry--Let's Get Creative!

Tonight I thought what can I make....

took a few chicken breasts and diced into bite size chunks.  Added near the end of cooking a box of Chicken  Broccoli Rice A Roni then added broccoli florets.

It was pretty good!  Wondering what creative thing I'm gonna come up with next!  Pancakes for dinner sounds good haven't done that in a long time.

I know tomorrow is BLT for sure since it's a golf day.

Fun to read everyone's good ideas🙂

Re: Stuff In the Pantry--Let's Get Creative!

On the menu for tonight is a tuna salad melt on sourdough buns.  Needed to use some celery, so tuna salad was a convenient choice.

I've got some of those really good Compari tomatoes to slice and heat  on the buns between the tuna and the sliced cheese topping.

Re: Stuff In the Pantry--Let's Get Creative!

I love bulk bins, I have a lot of dried beans and legumes plus have a case of dried tomatoes, some tomato sauce and paste, onions, garlic, carrots, and broths so it's a great base for soups, stews, and chili. I came across some old soup mix packages I never used so I'll probably get creative with those. I've saved at least 100 recipes I have most the stuff for so it's time to get creative! Luckily I also hit before this and got ground turkey, chicken breasts, and canned tuna and chicken so I'm set for awhile. Frozen veg too.
