i was going through bread drawer today and noted the 1/2 loaf of Hawaii Bread I bought dated May 4.  Here it is June and I do t see any mo!d.

It concerns me to think there is that much preservative in a loaf of bread.  Anyone have any insight?

Maybe your home is cool, and does not have a lot of circulating air?

I am not happy to say this, but California ( South Bay) has the most awful bread I have ever eaten.

Fron Bagels to Cornbread, to Rye bread. It is really bad.

I eat them but the only choice I would  have is to bake my own breads.

I do not always have the time.

Flatbush have you thought about getting a bread maker? Mixes, kneads , rises and bakes all kinds of bread

We have a summer place.  In the fall, we closed it up until the next spring...well, my husband did.  I was busy with something else at the time and couldn't make it.

The next spring, when we went back, I found sandwich rolls left in our picnic basket.  They had been in there for six months.  They were still soft with no visible mold.

Almost all store bought bred contains preservatives.  I make homemade bread and it molds in a few days, sometimes in as little as two days, if not eaten immediately.

I have to freeze 1/2 a loaf of store bought bread --DD and I will use the other 1/2 up before it gets moldy.

I find that if I purchase the in store baked bread it will mold.  The mas produced shelf bread doesn't.  It must be full of preservatives.  Seldom do I purchase it.
