Me too. He set one on fire.
LC replaced it, no questions asked.

eeekkk I haven't had any fires in mine. That's scary.

Don't count out the Kirland (Costco brand) Dutch oven. Made in France like the $$$ brands. Not sure if still available at the clubs.

I bought my Staub from the Q also when they first had it! It was VERY inexpensive! I think I only paid 60.00 for my 6qt oval with trivet. It is pretty; deep cobalt with tiny specks of gold. I also bought a light blue 5qt round, and a 2qt red round. They all have white/cream colored interiors.
When QVC had the first presentation of LC, I jumped on it because it was on easy pay. It was a 7qt and because I didn't own a 7qt, I bought it.
I've really, really wanted a Staub in the Grenadine color ever since I found it on the web many years ago. The prices were not anywhere close to what I paid for the others and I really didn't NEED another. But I couldn't get the Grenadine out of my mind. It is such a deep, clear red.
Well....the other day I googled Grenadine Staub to see if it was still around AND I found a 4qt (I did not own a 4qt..) La Cocotte! Fancy term for a round dutch oven! I ordered it (sale 149.99 free shipping) on Saturday and it came yesterday!!! I love it! It is the perfect size too!!
I cannot tell the difference between Staub and LC. Both made in France in the same technique. Very high quality and cooks and cleans well!

KatieB,
I'm a enameled cast iron junkie. I have LeCreuset, Staub, Lodge, MCM, Techniques, Better Homes & Gardens, Kitchen-Aid, and at least 1/2 dozen other brands. I have dutch ovens to fry pans, roasters to cocottes. Rounds, ovals, squares, rectangles. I love them all!
I actually use the Lodge 6 quart more than the others, (it was my first!).
The MCM and Kitchen-Aid are my next favorites. Why spend 4-5 times more for LeCreuset? I bought 6 Better Holmes and Gardens enameled cast iron 6 qt dutch ovens for less than $30.00 each in Wal-mart. Which is substantially less than one similar LeCreuset. They all perform well. Granted, the MCM is heavier than the others in the same size...but I'm a big guy and can handle the extra weight.
Stove-top or oven, they all cook equally. The only piece I ever had a problem with is one of my first LeCreuset enameled cast iron dutch ovens which developed a chip in the enamel. It was in the lid and I never bothered to replace it.
My Kitchen -Aid is my largest, I think its an 8 quart and I use it when making large pots of stuffed peppers or stuffed cabbage. Its my go to dutch oven for large gatherings around the holidays, although lately the Ninja 3 in 1 and my pressure cookers are getting more use.
So if color matters, let that be your guide, or your wallet. I find performance and endurance to be about equal.
Enjoy!
