I am also sorry to hear about the fires. I will be thinking of you.
Funny story-
One year a student gave me chocolate for Christmas, and it might have been 80% cacao. I faithfully hand carried it to my vacation destination, and when I went to take a bite, it was like eating baker's chocolate. Honestly, I thought maybe with some peanut butter I could mask the taste. That didn't work either. I had to chuck it. So definitely NOT that high ever again!

@BirkiLady, hope you will be home soon safe and sound. Thoughts and prayers for those who have permanent homes there. To answer your question, I do love both milk and dark chocolate. When I have the dark, typically it is 74%. I’m looking forward to hearing which is your favorite.

@lolakimono @LIndaMJ @ECBG @OKPrincess @Azcowgirl @meallen616 - The darker, the better for me . . . which means to some of you, bitter! The 72% is as low as I'll go; but my favorite, melt-in-my-mouth and sinfully-delicious is 86%. (Developing a taste for that smooth, soft chocolate is worth it.) Chocolate is known to be healthy for us. Keep USA #1 in exporters! Cheers to all dear Chocoholics!
As a diabetic, I haven't made chocolate chip cookies in years (since our son was living at home). He is now 45. I recall they didn't tempt me at all. Have no idea what percentage they are. Your story made me laugh!! Haven't we all tried that when cooking? Wonder if they are less expensive than the pricy dark chocolates I've become addicted to? (Dang, I hate to end a sentence with a preposition!)
The Eisenhower Tunnel held all of the smoke! It was a slow and trecherous experience driving through with blinders on. Dense fog-like conditions all the way to Golden. Pray for the firefighters. They have at least three fires going this side of the Continental Divide. How do they do it?
We lost an hour (different time zones) and need to hit the road. Having dinner in Kearney, NE with childhood friends. My parents moved to Lincoln the summer after second grade. Yes, we have kept in touch all . of . these . years! It helped that my parents owned duplexes and had an acreage in Kearney for years. See you later!
