I really appreciate how he presents the product. Not once did he stick his hands or fingers in the product. He used a utensil during his presentation. I wish more food vendors would adopt that idea. Either that or put on sanitary gloves. It just makes for a more appetizing product.

I appreciate Jonathan too - he's very good. The Germack lady could take a lesson or two from him.

Why does this make any diference? The vendors are not serving this food to you. They are not repackaging it and sending it out to customers. Besides, gloves only give a false sense of security; they are no more sanitary than clean hands (FYI: the reason they wear gloves in hospitals is not to protect patients from germs but to protect workers from patients' bodily fluids).
Additionally, these are two different products. The Germack products contain dried fruit, and it reuires handling (squeezing, etc.) to give some idea of the texture and moisture content. You really cannot compare the two.

My suggestion for the Germack lady is to use one of those small wooden scoops when she demonstrates the volume and size of the ingredients laid out in that white tray she uses. I understand that eating that kind of snack is very tactile and you get your own fingers into it, but her demonstration is off-putting. She could always just pick up a couple of cranberries or raisins, et al., when she demonstrates the plumpness of the dried fruit.
Sorry, I am not a fan of watching her always digging fingers into the mix time after time. It makes a difference [to me] because I turn away.

I am always amazed by the reaction people have to seeig this woman demonstrate her product.. It doesnt really bohter me..It is a demonstration, but frankly, I serve chips and nuts to people at my house without tiny spoons and tongs for serving..
Its not a surgical procedure where a sterile field has to be maintained...
But after rading these boards I have learned lot about what bothers people- even to the point that there are folks who will not eat at restaurants..PERIOD.. because of their fear of germs...
Next we might be seeing a groudswell to change the name from GERM-ack to ANTISEPTIC-ak....

Interesting how a pleasant enough discussion about a food demonstration practice can quickly turn to passive aggressive insults about people themselves.
