Speaking of useful appliances: Food Processors

Does anyone have a food processor (full size, not mini)  they like better than Cuisinart?  I have been married over 40 years and have had two Cuisinarts.  I have no complaints about how well they work, I just don't like the design of the unit.  I have read KA is not as good.  I have wondered about Breville.  Any recommendations?

I can't really help since I've only ever had 2 in my entire life.  I currently have a Wolfgang Puck one which I think is no longer made.  I love it for the times I actually use a food processor.  It is so quiet compared to the one that was gifted to me and my 1st husband as a wedding present.  Can't remember the brand, but it wasn't high end.

A friend of mine got a Breville  and she raves about it, she had a cuisinart previously.

I've been cleaning out cupboards and was thinking of getting rid of mine since I barely use it.

I threw mine out.    I accidentally dropped a blade, and it gashed my foot.    Lost a LOT of blood......

I didn't like the design of my Cusinart either. It was hard to clean because liquid from the food got stuck in the narrow chamber along the side. You can't get in that part to clean it. Very unsanitary! I ended up getting a non-name brand from Amazon. I don't recommend it though. It's easier to clean but it also has other issues I don't like. Appliances and bras! Can't they ever make them to work right?

Re: Speaking of useful appliances: Food Processors

I have had Cuisinart food processors since 1977 or maybe a little before.  I got one of the first sold in the US I think.  Nobody knew what it was but I had seen Julia Child using one on tv.

That first machine ran until up into the late 1990s.  I had gotten a newer bigger one and given it to my mom in the late 80's.  But then she could tear up anything--another story.

I have used other brands at relatives' houses--most were junk.  My favorites are the old two toggle switch ones.  I still have a big DLC 14 model that is a beast, but use a newer lighter one most (it lives under the counter).  I can't say enough good about them--wouldn't be without--and ours is used about twice a week!

@Sooner

I learned how to cook by watching Julia Child on TV.

Re: Speaking of useful appliances: Food Processors

I will always have a food processor.  I use mine every day, sometimes a few times a day.

I have had several different brands over the years.  They pretty much all worked the same.

I currently have a KA.  It's not new.  I own quite a few cutting disks.

If I ever need to buy another FP, I'd probably get a KA.  I know my disc collection will fit.  Since this appliance is not super expensive, just get what brand you like the design of.

I prefer a model with a wide food feed opening.  I have had models where I have had to cut small potatoes down to fit them down the neck of the feeder. I won't make that mistake again.

They all work.

I have had 2 Cuisinart FP. And am not thrilled with it either. The bowl has cracked from being so difficult getting it to run by twisting the top on so it tuns on . Think I would try the Ninja brand and maybe Breville too.
