Re: Smuckers cherry preserves

Up here, cherries are such a thing Traverse City has a week long festival to celebrate.

Nobody buys locally made jams, jellies or preserves?

@SharkE My favorite Cherry Preserves are the Bonne Maman and Walmart carries them.  I eat 2 tsps. full on some yogurt and bran and it is a real treat!

@Sooner.  My favorite also, although expensive.  I refuse to buy Smuckers or the other usual brands, which seems to have evolved into little more than gelatinous juice.  Preserves should contain recognizable fruit as it is preserved fruit.  Smuckers is more like jelly.

Re: Smuckers cherry preserves

My favorite is Crofter's Morello Cherry Spread. It has 33% less sugar than preserves and organic.

A spoon is extremely dangerous near an open jar. Those whole cherries are addictive. Consider yourself warned. Smiley LOL Delicious mixed with yogurt, ice cream topper, etc..

Dang that's good stuff !! I could eat a jar of that.

I always bought strawberry, thought I'd branch out and bought cherry today . P on strawberry. Watch and see if they don't quit making it now !!

Sure as sun is coming up in Tx. They will quit making it

I buy Polaner Sugar Free Orange Marmalade or Strawberry. They both are very good.

I buy the Smuckers low sugar strawberry. That's the only flavor that's low sugar that I'm aware of. The cherry does sound good, though.

@catter70 , Smuckers also has a low sugar apricot that is very good.

Apricot sounds like something I may like to try too. I had no idea Smuckers makes that flavor either.  Is it like a marmalade or true jelly?

@cheriere @It's a really good jam. Not a jelly, more like a marmalade. So good!

Thanks for letting me know.  I really do appreciate it.  I'm actually out of jam or jelly, except for a little grape and I'm always looking for something new to try that's sweet.  I've gotta give myself a break from that addictive Nutella!

Re: Smuckers cherry preserves

Smuckers does put whole cherries in theirs. Like pie filling.   Unfortunately, my stomach aches now.

ROFLMAO   I'll flounder on it then I won't want it any more.

note:   to "flounder' on something is a country term to describe you ate to much of any one thing and now got sick on it.

Up in Ind. they would say "those horses floundered on those apples and got the trots".

@SharkE  @SaveTheTurtles      I haven't tried the cherry or blueberry before either, but they both sound like something I'd like!  We make strawberry raspberry, and blackberry jam in the summer, but I sure wish we had blueberry bushes.  We have cherries, but I'd never thought about making jelly out of them before.

@cheriere I'm jealous.  I love cherries, but can't find even a frozen tart cherry here, only canned, never fresh.  We get the sweet ones here, but a proper cherry pie needs to be made from tart cherries.
