I bought a Cuisinart 3.5 quart slow cooker, and used it once to cook a 1/2 turkey breast, which turned out fine.
I found a recipe in the last "Taste of Home" magazine for slow cooker pea soup. I prepared the ingredients for the recipe, and started the slow cooker on low and set it for 10 hours, as stated in the instructions. Since it didn't seem like the peas were getting soft after 10 hours on low, I set the slow cooker on high for another 1 hour. The peas still are not completely tender, but somewhat better, so I'm setting the slow cooker on high for another hour. I don't think this pea soup will ever get done, and I'm really disappointed. Maybe it's the dried peas, as I've had them for awhile.
Have any of you had problems cooking soup in your slow cooker? Any suggestions?
Note: I finally stopped the slow cooker and took the soup out. It was very watery, not thick like pea soup usually is for me.
